Let Me Tell You A Story

Published March 5, 2014 by carlyjellis

Let me tell you a story
Of a love so pure and true
He smiled and her and said hello
She said instantly she knew

From that day their lives changed forever
A new chapter had begun
No more worries about the future
One day at a time with the rise of the sun

They spent most days together
Feeling they’d known each other all their lives
A comfortable feeling, a warm feeling
A feeling not clouded over with lies

They fell in love without question
Had never felt love like this before
She gave him everything he wanted
He gave her so much more

They made each other smile again
Their happiness could not be denied
Both had waited so many years
To find a love which made them feel truly alive

Are they still together you ask me
Of course they are, why wouldn’t they be
They were made for each other, meant to be together
And in case you were wondering, the girl is me

Simply For You

Published January 13, 2014 by carlyjellis

There are days when tears fall down my face

Feeling so happy feels like a strange place

Knowing you love me as much as I love you

Knowing we will be together to see the years through

You have lightened my life in a way I can’t explain

No longer will I feel any hurt or pain

You are the missing piece to a puzzle I thought lost long ago

Now I see a future filled of happiness with only you

The very thought of you and I begin to smile

Having you in my life makes life seem worthwhile

To know you will love me, protect me and care

I’ve finally found someone with whom my life I can share

To put these thoughts into words seems such a simple thing to do

But no words could ever express how much I am in love with you

My heart is yours forever and you must now know this to be true

To be by my side for the rest of time my one and only you

Man of Mine

Published November 10, 2013 by carlyjellis

This feels like a dream

This feeling inside

So happy to smile

Finally feeling alive

Never felt this way before

Never truly knew what love was

Never imagined you could fall

Never believed you and I would become us

You have lit up my life

In ways I can’t explain

You have become my confidant, my friend

My lover and my soul mate

I feel so lucky to have you

To be able to say that you are mine

I don’t know what made you choose me

Whatever the reason I will be thankful for the rest of my life

You complete my inner soul

You make me feel like I’m finally home

You protect me and love me and make me feel like I belong

So I dedicate this to you my one and only true love

Fear & Love

Published October 2, 2013 by carlyjellis

Afraid to give my heart

Afraid of being hurt

Afraid to trust the words spoken to me

Afraid of a man who’s changed my world

Scared of the past repeating

Scared of a broken heart

Scared that this all may be a dream

Scared that I won’t be enough

Maybe it’s time I took a leap of faith

Maybe this time he will be the one

Maybe he will save my soul and mend my heart

Maybe I may have found my true love

I need to start looking forward

I need to allow the past to die

I need to embrace the love in front of me

I need to trust the man by my side

In Dreams

Published September 19, 2013 by carlyjellis

Breathe in deep

Breathe out slow

Not tired enough to sleep

Her heart and mind full of woe

A tear rolls down her cheek

Without warning she starts to weep

Will this loneliness ever end

Will she ever find a lover and a best friend

She lies alone at night

Pondering over her plight

Willing things to change

Wishing her life could turn a page

She drifts off to sleep and into a dream

Where she has found her love

It’s all how it should be

He holds her and kisses her

Tells her she is the one

Then she suddenly wakes up

Her love has gone

She yearns for the dream to come true everyday

Never sure if it will

But continues to try anyway

Will she ever see him

Will they ever meet

She lives in hope one day he will come for her

Only then will her life be complete

Killer Book | Daily Prompt: Bookworm

Published June 16, 2013 by carlyjellis

Tell us about the last book you read (Why did you choose it? Would you recommend it?). To go further, write a post based on its subject matter.

Photographers, artists, poets: show us WORDS

I have a real, some what perhaps morbid interest in criminal psychology, in particular reading about serial killers, learning about the psychology behind their thinking, the why’s and what for’s. Sometimes no explanations can be found for why these people behave how they do and commit such heinous crimes as they do, but I am interested in reading about what certain psychologists believe are the reasoning’s and methods behind the madness.

The last book I read was indeed a book based on my interest of this. It is called ‘A History of British Serial Killing’ by Professor David Wilson. I chose this book because not only did it deal with this particular subject matter but also it is written by a man who is believed to be one of the best, if not the best criminal psychologist in the UK. I have read a lot of his books over the years, seen his documentaries on television and listened to him during interviews when discussing these matters. I also follow him on Twitter haha.

This book was fascinating and whilst it is primarily dealing with British serial killers, the thoughts about these can be applied to many serial killer cases throughout the history of the world. The book itself deals with not only the more famous cases of British serial killers, but also deals with the lesser known cases too. The details of the crimes themselves are dealt with, with respect and thought and do not go into too many gory details, instead this books focuses more on the actual victims of the crimes, names of people who often get forgotten about, and also the psychological aspect of these crimes, why they happened, what could have been the catalyst to begin these murderous episodes and what, in the authors mind, drove these people to continue with their crimes until they got caught. This books addresses the question of nature vs nurture, a question very often linked to these kind of crimes and not very easily answered, arguments can be given on both sides, which Professor David Wilson explores and helps the reader to understand some reasoning behind the crime.

I honestly cannot recommend this book enough to anybody who has an interest in this subject matter or an interest in wanting to learn more about the human psyche, particularly as this book has been written by an expert in this field. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and no doubt will be reading again in the near future as I was literally struggling to put it down.

Just Listening | Daily Prompt: Singin’ in the Rain

Published June 16, 2013 by carlyjellis

Safe inside, toasty warm, while water pitter-patters on the roof… describe your perfect, rainy afternoon.

Photographers, artists, poets: show us RAIN

The middle of November, a brisk north easterly wind is blowing and along with it comes the rain, big, fat raindrops hitting the windows of the house, hearing them bounce off the rooftop making their own melody. From the comfort found indoors we listen to the rain and wind. Another log is put on the fire and we can feel it’s warmth whilst curled up together on the sofa, a blanket wrapped around our bodies. The cups of hot chocolate sit on the table, the steam rising off them, too hot to drink just yet. We sit together simply talking about our hopes and our dreams, our wants and desires. No distractions, no interruptions, just the sound of the rain, the wind and the roaring fire. We kiss and we cuddle, enjoying the simplicity of a perfect rainy afternoon together.
